Parkinson’s Clinic of Eastern Toronto and Movement Disorders Centre was founded in 2005 by Canadian Neurologist Dr. A.Q. Rana. Its starting aim was of providing clinical care to patients with Parkinson’s disease, Movement Disorders and other neurological conditions, patients and caregiver’s education, and promoting public awareness of Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders.
Our mission is to provide up to date and comprehensive medical care to patients with Parkinson's disease and Movement disorders. Focusing on all aspects of these neurological disorders and education of patients is our goal.
We are widely known for our exceptional expertise, dedication and compassion on national as well as international levels.
We introduced a comprehensive model of multidisciplinary care towards our patient population and developed a network of all necessary services required by our patients. We enjoy the support of various specialists from psychiatry department, the geriatric service, urology clinic and others. This is in addition with physiotherapy and rehab services. Parkinson’s Clinic of Eastern Toronto is a multidisciplinary facility, which provides specialized services for Parkinson's disease, Movement disorders, and other neurological conditions. This is including Botulinum Toxin treatment for various neurological conditions. We are located in the Eastern part of Toronto, in central Scarborough.
Our Staff and physicians give full dedication and time to every patient, and assess them thoroughly. We incorporate innovative clinical wellness programming to provide high- quality care to our patients. Our patients thereby benefit from the expertise of our highly trained and senior physicians, who are consulted for Parkinson's disease and Movement Disorders on a worldwide scale. Being located in a facility with a walk- in- clinic, urgent care center, family health team and expert pharmacy staff provides a unique opportunity to our patients to enjoy immediate access to these services.
Although our immediate catchment area is the eastern part of Toronto, we do receive referrals from all across Ontario and other parts of Canada, as well as overseas. Due to our passion, multilingual staff, and services to ethnically diverse communities, we provide services to a large catchment area including south Central Ontario. Due to the trust we gained from physicians overseas, our experts have been consulted on complex Parkinsonism and Movement Disorders cases from other parts of the world.
All referred patients are given a timely appointment after their referral is received by our staff. After the initial consultation, patients usually complete laboratory and other medical investigation if required. After the treatment is initiated, our patients with chronic conditions are regularly seen in periodic follow-up visits to ensure the continuity of care. Regular appointments are provided at a convenient time. Those who need to come early due to unexpected circumstances contact the staff to change their appointment to a better time.
At every step, when a referred patient is under our care, we communicate with the referring physician to keep them involved. This ensures that the primary physician remains informed off all changes in due course of patient care.
